Just off the Pacific Coast Highway
Lies the town of Port Hueneme.
Yes, I know you pronounced it wrong.
It rhymes with ‘support my weenie.’
.
And no, there is nothing in the water
That makes folk’s dongs more lengthy.
The ocean tends to be so cold
Folk’s dongs shrivel small as a pinky.
.
The summer winds are cool
With highs in the upper seventies
And nighttime by the fire
Can often feel quite nippy.
.
But there is something in the cloud cover
That keeps the winters empty
Of temperatures much lower
Than seventies or sixties.
.
So keep a light jacket
Or sweater with you handy
If you deem it right to visit
The town of Port Hueneme.
[Hueneme is pronounced phonetically as why-knee-me]

I wrote this poem in response to the Wea’ve Written Weekly prompt on Skeptics Kaddish. This week’s prompt poem is “Longing for Water” by Britta Benson. If you would like to read the poem or participate in the prompt visit the post here: https://skepticskaddish.com/2022/08/10/w3-prompt-15-weave-written-weekly/
sounds the perfect place to keep cool 🙂

I grew up there, and I never realized how lucky I was to live between the mountains and the ocean where the temperature seemed to be in the 70s all year round. I have since moved away and now I realize how spoiled I was. I once heard my family there complaining about an 83 degree ‘heat wave.’ I told them, I wish it was only 83 here.

I really want this poem to be chosen for poem of the week so we’ll all have reason to write penis-inspired poetry for next W3 prompt.

lol… Alas, it is probably not in the cards. Weird and funny are my poetry niche, but I don’t think many people find it inspiring. 😀

I love the weird and funny. And I think penises are very inspiring for poetry. (https://jewishyoungprofessional.wordpress.com/2022/01/18/unpopular-opinions-on-thesauruses-and-penises/) People take themselves way too seriously sometimes.

I agree. Sometimes, it can be quite fun to cut loose and be silly.
