July Poem 15

Vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila, Triple Sec,

And any other liquor you can dream up

All in equal parts leaving an overwhelming gin taste

Covered up by lemon juice and sugar,

Crammed into the left over glass.

Yellow, brown, green, red, blue, purple.

Long Island, Long Beach, Georgia,

California, Miami, Hawaiian, Caribbean Iced Tea,

Tokyo Tea, Three Mile Island Iced Tea,

Walk Me Down, Code Blue, Screaming Blue,

Blue Fucker, Blue Motherfucker, Adios Motherfucker.

Hawaiian Iced Tea or Grateful Dead

Top with Chambord if you have it handy

But cranberry and blue curacao can fake it.

The real one, fruity and cloying, but the fake one,

Made with a hint of bitterness, adds presentational flair.

Blue and red with a swirling central expanse,

A vortex from magenta to violet to fuchsia,

A flower in full bloom suspended in the glass

Circling, fading, mixing to purple Cool-Aid,

The grape drank for college party crowd.
